After doing certification in event management and planning you start a new event planning business, talk with some experienced people of industry and avoid the mistakes that people do and spoil their business. No doubt everyone do mistakes and we learn from previous errors. But ones fault and blunders have done they should be avoided in future. Few top mistakes of event planner are given below. It will give you general idea and help you to evade these mistakes.

1. Overselling of services and products:

It’s necessary to use good marketing skills and provide marketing services, but don’t over sell what you can’t offer to your client. This will totally break their trust in you. They will be disappointed and you won’t be able to fulfill the promises that you have made. You will find their eyes always questioning about your skills and experiences. If you broke their trust won’t be that easy to gross it again.

2. Lying about experience of knowledge and expertise.

Don’t lie with your client. Be truthful about your experience of catering, services, decoration and venue selection. Show your real work and potentials. And ask the client to visit the venue and check the catering services before the start of an event to show you particular and specific.

3. Vendors Confirmation.

If you are not providing full facilities as new event manager and the client had made all contacts and contacts with vendors then it’s your duty to call vendors and confirm about the services they are providing at time or not. To become a successful event manager you should know which remote bodies and organizations are involved in event, confirm about the conveniences and timing of event with them.

4. Working with clients.

 When you sign a contract with your client make certain that you feel easy going to work with your client. You and your client argue less and both land on one solution. If you mess up with him during the event process then production of best work will take away. Don’t book clients that don’t match you style, traits and behavior.

5. Business insurance.

Avoid making a contract with those clients who didn’t do any insurance to protect themselves and your business in the case of any loss.

6. Changes in contract.

 Always be flexible in your deal. If client ask you to do any change in deal then ask him to give you some time to think about it. Small changes can be adjusted easily but if client ask you to make major changes that can give you loss then it won’t be easy for you to run with the client any longer. You can also discuss with lawyer as well for some suitable advice.

7. Make a clear contract.

 Don’t include anything in your contract that you are not providing. Include number of working hours, tasks, team members detail clearly on your contract paper. It will create a great mess if you include some task and don’t perform them in future.
